From Policy To Innovation : Assessing The Role of Business Environments in Africa (2013-2014)
Legal and regulatory environments are not just abstract systems. They directly shape innovation, economic growth, and opportunities for entrepreneurs. This project seeks to make a comparative analysis of how legal and business environments influence innovation, with a focus on identifying patterns and outliers that can inform policy and economic strategy. At its heart, it answers the question: Do countries with better legal and business environments also perform better in innovation?
In pursuit of this objective, the analysis drew on the following indicators:
- Ease of Doing Business Score – reflects regulatory/business environment
- Legal Rights Index Score – reflects strength of legal frameworks
- Global Innovation Index Score – reflects innovation performance
